[SmartThings] Troubleshooting Intermittent Lock/Offline lock

If your lock keeps on switching between online/offline, wait for the lock to be in the offline state and then open the location in the SmartThings app and go to the room where your lock is.

As you can see in the screenshot above, currently the Lock and the SmartThings hub are online. If it is your SmartThings Hub causing this issue, you would see both of them as offline. Otherwise, you would only see the lock as offline.

If the Lock is going offline, we would advise you to:
  • bring the SmartThings Hub closer to the lock
  • make sure the lock and the SmartThings hub are not close to any heavy metal objects, glasses, or electrics that could interfere with the signal
  • perform a Repair Z-Wave network: Select the SmartThings Hub, press (⋮), Z-Wave utilities, Repair Z-wave network, Start repair.
And then troubleshoot the Lock by following the instructions in this article.

If the SmartThings Hub is going offline, we would advise you to:
  • bring the SmartThings Hub closer to the Wifi or switch to LAN if possible
  • bypass power bars
  • try a different power outlet
  • make sure the SmartThings Hub or the wifi router are not close to any heavy metal objects, glasses, or electrics that could interfere with the signal
  • check if other devices are also going offline at the same time (if they are, it might be a wifi issue)
And then troubleshoot the Lock by following the instructions in this article.
