- Through the BILT app you’ll be able to find the step-by-step guide for the physical installation instructions

- Create a new account or sign in to an existing account.
Step 3: Lock Setup

- Restart the lock by taking out 1 battery and reinserting it after 10 secs.
- Go to the Hamburger Menu (3 lines on the top left corner) in the Yale app
- Tap 'Set up a device' and allow access to camera if asked
- There are 3 ways to set up the module in the Yale app:

- Serial Number method:
- When prompted, enter SN number from the module
- Product Selector: If you cannot enter a serial number or it did not work, click on 'Use product selector instead' Select 'Yale', then 'Smart Lock, then select ‘Yale Assure Lock 2 (YRD4x0)’
- Scan QR code on the module:
- Select a device: Select Assure Lock 2

Step 4: Setup Wifi: There are 2 ways to connect the lock to your Wifi:

- Make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz WiFi.
- When prompted to set up WiFi, select "Use my module."
- Follow the installation instructions, and after installation, you can select "Complete installation."
- Now, you will be prompted to set up your WiFi.
- When you’re already connected to the 2.4 GHz WiFi, you can select ‘Begin Wi-fi Setup’
- When prompted to Test Signals click ‘Skip for Now’
- When prompted to create Entry Code click ‘Skip for Now’
- When prompted to set up Guest Access click ‘Done’
- Bridge Setup: Adding a bridge to your Yale Assure 2 lock is optional. Adding a bridge would drastically increase battery life and increase stability of your lock’s wifi connection.
Connect Bridge placement tips:
- Whenever possible, plug the Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge into your socket right-side up. The top and sides of the Connect Bridge provide the strongest bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals.
- While the location closest to your lock and/or router will usually result in the best signal, this may not always be the case. If your signal needs improvement, try several sockets in the general area and compare the best signal results.
- Make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz WiFi.
- When prompted to set up WiFi, select “use other methods” and click “set up a new Wifi bridge”
- Plug the bridge into a power socket within 10-15 feet of the lock, in an inconspicuous area where the risk of it getting unplugged is minimal. *Note that only one lock can be connected to each bridge. Note: Ensure this plug is not connected to a switch that a guest could potentially turn on and off.
- If the light on the Bridge is not already flashing green, hold the button on the bridge for 5 seconds until it does so, then tap ‘OK’.
- From the home screen of the app, tap 'Set up a device'
- You will be asked to scan the QR code on your bridge.
- If you can't scan the code, click 'Can't scan the code?' and enter the serial number located behind the bridge.
- If you cannot enter a serial number or it did not work, click on 'Can't find the serial number' Select 'Yale', then 'Accessory, then 'Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge'
- Tap ‘Begin Wi-Fi Setup’. It is important to note that you must be connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection in order to function properly
- Check to make sure that the correct network is selected. The bridge will now connect to that network
- Skip ‘Test Signals’
- If the app registers that it "Can't connect to signals'' Ignore this and tap ‘Continue’ to skip this process
Step 5: Test the lock
- Test Wifi Signal: Go to Settings on the bottom right corner
- For lock setup using the Module,
- Select Lock Settings
- Scroll down and select Wifi Signal
- Confirm you are getting good Wifi Signal
- If the signal strength is low, consider adding a bridge to boost signals.
- For lock setup using the Bridge,
- Select Bridge settings
- Confirm you are getting good Wifi and BLE (Bluetooth) Signal and your SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) is not bad.
- For lock setup using the Module,
- Test Lock/Unlock over Bluetooth:
- Make sure you are in the Bluetooth range
- Make sure your Bluetooth is on and Wifi is off
- Try to lock/unlock via the app
- Test Lock/Unlock over Wifi:
- Make sure your Bluetooth is off and Wifi is on
- Try to lock/unlock via the app
Once you have passed all 3 tests, the lock is ready to be connected in Operto!
