[Yale Linus + Yale Home] Setting up Yale Linus + Yale Home

Hardware checklist: Yale Linus Lock, Yale Home Wifi Bridge
Please note, for this process, you will need wifi credentials for the unit you'll be working on, and the Master Code for the lock.
*IMPORTANT* Make sure that you do not forget the Master Code that you created on the lock, it will be needed anytime you configure the lock in the future.
*OPTIONAL* To have your lock automatically relock after being left open, you will be able to access the Lock Settings within the Yale Home App. Make sure you are located within Bluetooth range of the lock so that you can enable this feature on.
Step 1: Install the lock on the door
- Check your lock compatibility using the Compatibility Checker on Yale's website. This will provide guidance on whether the cylinder should be changed.
*** Please note that for any lock where the key can't be inserted in both ends at the same time, you can install Linus with the adjustable cylinder. The adjustable cylinder works with any euro-cylinder lock and we won't require measurements beforehand. ***
- You will find installation instructions in the below videos.
- If your existing cylinder is compatible with Linus, please follow the instructions in this LINK
- If you are using the adjustable cylinder, please follow the instructions in this LINK
- Smart keypads are typically drilled or glued to the wall. Before you do so, please take a picture of the serial number and store it for future use.
Step 2: Account Setup
- Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is turned on and you are connected to the unit's Wi-Fi.
- Download the free mobile Yale Home App.
-
Create a new account (under 'Set Up My First Device') or sign in to an existing Yale Home account.
-
Make sure to create a new location for each unit. Each location should only have the locks installed in that particular unit.
Step 3: Lock Setup
- From the home screen of the app, tap 'Set up a device'
- You will be asked to scan the QR code on the module.
- If you can't scan the code, please enter the device's serial number.
- If you cannot enter a serial number or it did not work, click on 'Can't find the serial number' Select 'Yale', then 'Smart Lock, then select your Yale lock model
- Follow the next steps inside the app
- You are not required to install "DoorSense" on your door. (Door sense is optional and it can be set up at any time in the future if you require it.)
- Name the Smart Lock according to the unit name that you are onboarding.
- Follow the instructions in the app through the calibration process
- Tap 'Not Now' when prompted to set up "HomeKit"
- Click ‘Start’ to begin setting up the bridge
Step 4: Bridge Setup
- Plug the bridge into a power socket within 10-15 feet of the lock, in an inconspicuous area where the risk of it getting unplugged is minimal. *Note that only one lock can be connected to each bridge. Note: Ensure this plug is not connected to a switch that a guest could potentially turn on and off.
- If the light on the Bridge is not already flashing green, hold the button on the bridge for 5 seconds until it does so, then tap ‘OK’.
- From the home screen of the app, tap 'Set up a device'
- You will be asked to scan the QR code on your bridge.
- If you can't scan the code, click 'Can't scan the code?' and enter the serial number located behind the bridge.
- If you cannot enter a serial number or it did not work, click on 'Can't find the serial number' Select 'Yale', then 'Accessory, then 'Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge'
- Tap ‘Start’. It is important to note that you must be connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection in order to function properly
- Check to make sure that the correct network is selected. The bridge will now connect to that network
- Tap ‘Test Signals’
- If the app registers that it "Can't connect to signals'' Ignore this and tap ‘Continue’ to skip this process
- Test to see if the lock can be opened and closed with the Bluetooth settings on your phone turned 'on'
- Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone and repeat the test to check if the bridge is connected properly.
- If the lock can be controlled without Bluetooth, the lock and bridge are connected properly!
Step 5: Keypad Setup
- To add a Keypad, tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner of the screen, then tap ‘Set up a Device’.
- From the home screen of the app, tap 'Set up a device'
- The app will ask you to scan the QR code on your device.
- Click on 'Can't scan the code?' and enter the serial number located behind the keypad. If you cannot easily get the serial number, click on 'Can't find the serial number'
- Select 'Yale', then 'Accessory, then 'Yale SmartKeypad'
- Tap ‘Start’ and it will start scanning for your keypad.
- If Setup fails, remove a battery, put it back in, and then retry the setup.
- With the door in a locked position, enter the code shown on the screen and tap the red button to test if you can control the lock.
During the setup process and after selecting the house you wish to add the keypad to, the phone shows that the setup process started. The promotional screens will be shown. If this takes a long time or you get an error message, please check the keypad by pressing the one-touch lock. You might find the keypad is actually paired and connected to the lock and there is then no need for the reset code.
If you quit the process after it takes too long or if you get the error message, and then you try to set up the keypad again, it won't let you pair the keypad at all and you will need a reset code from Yale support
Step 6: Add Operto
- Tap on the "People icon" in the property view
- Tap 'Invite'
- Invite via the mobile number that was given to you in your onboarding email
- Enter "Operto" as the first name and "Support" as the last name
- Grant this user 'Owner' access level
- These steps must be performed for each lock in your Yale Home account.
Final Step: Ensure you have turned off all notifications for Yale Connect on your phone so that they don't interfere with the Operto notifications.
