How to Create Multiple Members with the Same Email Using Alias Emails

Welcome to Operto Guest Technologies! In this guide, we'll show you how to create multiple member accounts using the same email address by utilizing alias emails. This method is particularly useful for customers who have multiple accounts in Operto and need the same member to access each account with a unique email for login purposes.

Why Use Alias Emails in Operto?

In Operto, each member account must have a unique email address. This can pose a challenge when you need to provide the same member with access to multiple accounts but only have one email address available. To address this, we encourage the use of alias emails. This allows you to create multiple member accounts with unique login credentials while ensuring all notifications are sent to a single primary inbox.

Steps to Create Members with Alias Emails

To learn how to create a new member account, please refer to our detailed article on Adding New Team Members.

Creating the Alias Email

While creating the new member, use the following steps to create an alias email:

  1. In the email field, add a unique identifier to your email address using the + sign. For example, if your primary email is test@test.com, you can enter test+green@test.com for one account and test+blue@test.com for another account.

Example

Here’s an example to illustrate the process:

  • Primary Email: test@test.com
  • First Account Email: test+account1@test.com
  • Second Account Email: test+account2@test.com
  • Third Account Email: test+account3@test.com

All these emails will be treated as unique by our system, but any emails sent to these addresses will still arrive in the test@test.com inbox.

Tips for Managing Alias Emails

  • Consistency: Use a consistent naming convention for your aliases (e.g., test+accountname@test.com).
  • Documentation: Keep a record of which alias corresponds to which account or purpose.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage multiple member accounts with the same primary email address using alias emails. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact our support team.
